We kicked off this week with a special presentation at the seniors' centre across the road. We were very excited to get on stage and sing our Christmas concert song for the seniors, despite walking there in the absolutely torrential rain. And the seniors thought we were crazy adorable, so it was a win-win! Our buddies gave us a special treat this week, too, by making their own board games for us to play with them. We had a great time and many of us, little buddies, were very proud to beat our big buddies at their own games multiple times! Now that we've finished our overview of 39 of the most common French sounds, we have begun to review and reinforce the sounds and the letter names through poems and activities. The students have been enjoying using highlighters to try to find the sound of the day hidden within the poems. Another favourite from our lessons this week was learning our math song for counting by 5s. Madame brought in her special drum from Uganda and we all counted by 5s to the tune of Pink's "So What". See Song of The Week to hear what it sounds like. And the biggest and most exciting activity of the week was rollerblading today! Some of our Grade 6 and 7 friends came and helped us stay upright while we skated around the gym with disco lights. It was an experience, for sure! A special "thank you" to everyone who has ordered Scholastic books through our classroom. A significant percentage of that money comes right back to us so Madame ordered a big stack of brand new "Pete the Cat", "David" and "Elephant and Piggie" books in French, along with several others. We were SO excited to sit down and read the new books that many of us didn't even want to go play.
