It was "rainbow day" on Tuesday and after a torrential downpour, the sun began to emerge and we went on a rainbow hunt, convinced that we would find one because of the sun shining through the showers. We never did find our rainbow on Tuesday, but one finally showed up on our ice cream adventure day! And what an adventure day that was! We walked over 10km!!! And we got to practice a lot of French prepositions on our walk: “No, no… stay BEHIND me, not IN FRONT OF me…stay ON the sidewalk…walk BESIDE your friend, not ON their heels…” Our first mission - find a geocache. We studied the map and looked for routes, then set off in full sleuth mode. Mission complete! A big thanks to Ms. Angela from Stardom for hiding this treasure for us to find! There were even little prizes inside for us to take home! The bonus, of course, was that we got to see the progress of the flowers that we planted back in April. Most of the seeds have sprouted green stalks at this point, but many of the wildflowers have not yet appeared. Still, we were able to observe the growth and even see how much fuller and bigger our other colourful plants had blossomed. At this point, we had earned a much-deserved picnic break so we headed back to the Athletic Park to hang out for awhile. Most of the boys were too engrossed in a game of California Kickball to get in on the photos! Thank you to all of the parents who shared their photos with Madame. And then for the last leg of our mission... the walk to Osprey for ice cream! We even found a beaver dam along the way. But alas, no sign of the beavers, save for some bubbles in the water that we were CONVINCED were them! There really was no shortage of Vitamin D this week as Friday ended up being outdoor "Primary Fun Day". We loved participating in all of the different stations/activities and we especially loved the freezies we received at the end! Other highlights this week: ...making pop-open pokeballs with Pikachu inside... ...practicing our fine motor skills by making beaded bracelets... ...reinforcing our financial literacy and skip-counting skills by focusing in on the values of various coins...
